Chapitre 4: Tatakau Chikara | The Strength to Fight
With a combination of handpuppets, bulletin boards, and posters, Sorata explains, with vague assistance from Arashi, the different things about Hanshin Republic to Syaoran-tachi, like currency, food, weather, etc. Faye and Syaoran ask him various questions about Sorata and the place they're in and after answering them, Sorata points a finger at the napping Kurogane and orders him to wake up. Something smacks Kurogane and Syaoran rushes over to protect Sakura as Faye and Kurogane are left wondering what had hit him. Sorata is surprised that they didn't know what it was. It had been his kudan.
Everyone in their world had a kudan. Even if someone came from another world, they would also receive a kudan. Arashi noticed that everyone that had a power they originally fought with - Faye and his magic, Kurogane and his sword - had lost it before they arrived there. Syaoran concluded that a kudan can be used for battle, though its purpose can really be for anything. As for Mokona looking for Sakura's feather, he can sort of feel it, even if it's still far away from them.
Sorata and Arashi then take their leave, allowing Syaoran-tachi to stay in their extra apartment rooms. Syaoran and Sakura in one, Kurogane and Faye in another. Syaoran still doesn't want to leave Sakura's side, though Sorata and Arashi urge him to at least rest. In his sleep, Syaoran begins to dream and finds himself in an empty space. A creature encompassed in flames approaches him and asks him if he wants power, to which Syaoran says he does. The former asks him what he intends to do with it and Syaoran tells him he wants to protect his precious person. The creature accepts him and his strong heart and engulfs Syaoran in his flames. He suddenly wakes up, still grasping Sakura's hand and remembers his dream. Touching his hand to his chest, Syaoran can feel that it's hot.
