33/60. Just Like Old Times
Sakura and the other students are painting outside. When she joins Eli, she's amazed at how well his painting turned out. As she's praising him, Li sees the two of them chatting. However, he walks off later. When Eli tells Sakura that they were being watched and it was always Li, Sakura got confused. Li starts painting when Madison joins him. He's worried about their opponent. A voice suddenly interrupts them and they see Meilin, who smiles at them. Back in class, Meilin is chatting with her old friends as Madison and Li watch. Sakura comes running in, asking for Meilin and joins her. When asked why she came, Meilin said Li told her they needed help and she wasn't surprised. Sakura is excited and wants to do something that afternoon.
At the Avalon residence, Kero is playing a video game and answers the phone with his foot. Sakura is calling from a stairwell and tells him she'll be late. Kero gets mad because he lost the game with 9,999 points. After Sakura hangs up, Eli asks who the girl was and Sakura says that she grew up with her. Later on after school, the quartet are walking and Sakura is happy about Meilin being there. Madison and Li think back to the time of the Fight Card. They walk by Penguin Park and a clothed figure lands on the shrine arc, Spinner leaps over a roof, and Ruby stands up. Sakura senses something, as does Li. Suddenly, the little penguins move and flies at them. Li uses lightning incantations to attack and Meilin knocks them out with her fists.
They hear another loud crash and this time it's the giant penguin slide. Meilin gets the idea to use Freeze, so Sakura changes it and freezes all the penguins in blocks. They still try to escape so Li fries them with lightning. Li compliments Sakura and Meilin turns around with a sad expression and slightly confused. On a far off building, Eli says that Meilin knows all about the cards. Eli's staff glows and the quartet hears footsteps behind them, so they run. Li mentions that every time there's a strange occurrence, there's never anyone around. It is then that Meilin says she's leaving tomorrow.
At Li's house, Li and Meilin are on the balcony and Wei watches them as he pours tea. Meilin says that even if he wasn't the master of the cards, she was proud of him. Far off, Eli is watching them and Ruby asks why he's interested in the boy. Eli doesn't answer. Meilin calls Li lucky because he's needed because he has magic and is descended from Clow Reed. She walks into the apartment, downs her tea and leaves, saying she's sleeping over at Madison's. Li said she's also needed, even if he never told her. Meilin ignores him and leaves, slamming the door behind her. When Li tries to go after her, Wei stops him and shakes his head.
The next morning, Li, Meilin, and Wei are at the airport. Li says it was great having her back. Meilin is surprised but covers this by saying she could beat him in kickboxing. She smiles and says farewell. Li and Wei watch her leave. A few days later at school, Sakura and Madison are looking at their letters from Meilin. Madison says that Li and Meilin worked it all out which Sakura says is good. Meilin told Sakura that Li said even though she had no powers, she was still part of the Clow destiny like everyone else. Sakura says Meilin is a good friend.
