42. A Strange Intermission
All the students are in the auditorium, getting ready for the play. Sakura and Li are waiting for Madison to bring their costumes. She arrives and makes them change. The audience is filled. Aiden couldn't go but Tori and Julian are there. Backstage, everyone is practicing. Sakura has a nice prince costume. Miss Mackenzie says she'll be ready. Madison pushes Li out in a dress and a wig. Li hates being princess and is thoroughly embarrassed. Madison and Kero are in the tape room, working on the sound.
The grade five class, their class, is doing the play, Sleeping Beauty. Julian recognizes Madison's voice as the narrator. Three fairies appear, giving gifts. A spotlight appears in the middle of the audience and the witch shows up: Meilin. Meiling gives her gift, a curse, laughs wickedly and then leaves the stage. Zachary, the queen, does his part. When Li appears, Tori recognizes him in surprise. While walking, Li trips on the hem of his dress, knocks over the spindle and drops because he touched it. Sakura is waiting behind the scenes and Madison starts taping the performance.
Sakura appears onstage and Tori takes her picture. She plays her part very well and gets a lot of cheers. Tori continues snapping shots. Meilin really gets into her role as a witch and then Sakura defeats her. Sakura goes to where Li is sleeping to awaken him. Kero senses something is wrong. Suddenly, darkness fills the stage and Li disappears. Sakura is all alone, a black emptiness around her.
She runs aimlessly, calling for everyone. Then she falls to the ground. Kero is worried about her. She starts to cry as she sits up but remembers to have courage. She tries releasing her key but it doesn't work. Sakura says the card name. The darkness begins to overcome Sakura, who starts to disappear. But she believes in herself and begins to glow. The Light Card appears and Sakura talks to it. The Light had been in Sakura's heart the whole time. The card tells her that with light, darkness disappears.
The Dark Card appears, face to face with the Light. They hold hands and tell Sakura to seal them together. Sakura releases her staff and seals them. They wish her luck and mention Yue. When asked by Sakura, they respond by saying he's always been by her side. Everything returns to normal now. Sakura is excited but no one else. Kero remembers about Yue and in the shadows, Miss Mackenzie agrees with the Cards.
