1. One Fateful Day
A book opens and a girl is standing on the rooftop, facing Tokyo Tower. She jumps off the roof, wings on her feet. An alarm clock rings, waking up Sakura. It was just a dream. She hurries to get ready for school and goes downstairs afterward. Tori, her older brother, starts to pick on her and Sakura imagines she grows really tall and steps on him. After breakfast, Sakura and Tori head for school. Sakura is thinking of Julian, her brother's friend and her crush. They meet up with him and the trio reach Sakura's school, where she leaves.
At school, Sakura's with Madison and her best friend wants to videotape her for a school project. While in class, Sakura starts doodling and notices she drew something she saw in her dream. After school, during baton practice, when her baton is coming down, she sees a bird-like staff, just like in her dream. Distracted, the baton drops right on her head. Coming home from practice, Sakura finds out there's no one else there. Then she hears a noise coming from the basement, also Aiden's library. She goes to check it out and finds nothing. Then the Clow Book begins to glow and Sakura walks to it, taking it from the shelf. She recognizes the book from her dream.
The book unlocks itself and she sees a stack of cards. Taking one out, Sakura reads it aloud; "The Windy". Suddenly, the card glows and winds appear. All the cards are blown out of the book, disappearing into the world. Sakura drops the book and it glows again. This time, a small figure materializes and greets her. Sakura grabs it, wondering if it's some kind of toy. The figure calls himself Keroberos, the guardian beast of the cards. When he looks at the book, he cries, not seeing any Clow Cards. Sakura shows him the Windy Card and tells him all the other cards are gone. Kero proceeds to freak out.
Both Sakura and Kero go up to her room and Kero, trying to sense the other cards, fails. He then tells her about the cards' past and their maker, Clow Reed. He also adds that Sakura has to help him get them back. Thus, Keroberos appoints Sakura to become a Card Captor, giving her the bird staff to help her. Sakura refuses this but there's a sudden gust of wind coming through the open window. Looking outside, they see the Fly Card and the pair leave to go capture the card.
The Fly Card's visible form is a huge bird and it attacks Sakura. Sakura releases the wand but the card continues to chase and attack her. Sakura, coming up with an idea, rollerblades up the side of the wall and flips over, landing on the Fly Card's back. Clutching on, she releases the Windy Card. The Windy Card ties up the Fly Card and the latter hits the ground. Sakura seals The Fly before it can escape. With Sakura's first capture complete, Kero tells her to release the Fly Card. The tiny wings on Sakura's bird staff grows, thanks to the Fly Card and Sakura can sit on the wand and fly in the air. She does just that and flies over the city on her way home.
